Membership to the American Art Deco Dealers Association is open to any professional art deco/art nouveau dealer, collector, artist, or novice associate beginner who has an interest in art deco and art nouveau original or reproduction collectibles. The AADDA offers both Membership as well as Associate status in the association as outlined in the Association Bylaws. Both the AADDA MEMBERSHIP as well as the ASSOCIATE status offers an exclusive opportunity to belong to the only professional association for art deco and art nouveau collectibles in America. The association's mission is to set the professional standards for trading in the art deco and art nouveau antique/collectable arenas. Its main aim is to establish and maintain confidence between its members and the public, in buying, trading and selling of art deco as well as art nouveau collectibles.
Membership in the Association signifies a commitment to high business standards, professional ethics and expertise in the art deco and art nouveau collectibles fields. Membership signifies adherence to a vigorously enforced code of ethics as laid down by the Association. In order to gain membership into the AADDA all members must pass a thorough application and screening procedure and continue to have their membership renewed and confirmed annually. AADDA membership signifies an unparalleled pride in professional reputation for integrity, wide knowledge of a specific chosen field of specialization and the high standards, which the ADDA Seal represents. It is for these reasons that a seller or consumer can have complete confidence when purchasing from, listing with, trading or selling to any AADDA member.
Members of the Association in good standing may post and display the AADDA Membership Seal(s) in listings, postings, advertisements and promotions in accordance with the AADDA Seal Guidelines. This seal signifies the member's professional status in the AADDA and excellence in the art deco and art nouveau collectible trade. The seal also represents an unparalleled commitment to customer service and satisfaction backed with the AADDA Guarantee.
In the vast and unpoliced arena of the Internet, as well as the open physical market, many new and experienced consumers or collectors are subjected to unscrupulous sellers whose main interest is the quick sale and fast buck. Often, from incomplete listings to intentional misleading listings, these individuals perpetuate a very unstable environment for consumers. Dealer knowledge, experience and expertise are essential in maintaining a safe harbor for trade. Unfortunately, victims of such individuals have no viable means of determining the seller's level of expertise, professional business practices and ethical standards. As such, the AADDA strongly recommends that consumers or collectors in the art deco and art nouveau collectable trades deal only with Association Members for their own safety.
The AADDA seal is an instant visual indicator of your professional and ethical status as a member of the Association and it's standards of excellence. Members and their contact information and/or Internet website/e-mail information are listed in the AADDA Member Directory. The AADDA Membership Directory is also available for Association Members who do not utilize the Internet. Members also have available access to the Community Boards to communicate with other AADDA Members as well as AADDA Associates. Associates have the advantage of benefiting from the Member's experience, knowledge and established professional ethics. New comers or non-dealer collectors have a great unprecedented need for beneficial knowledge. By dealing with Association Members and benefiting from the consumer safety zone created through AADDA Membership - Associates in the AADDA have a comforting environment within which to operate while they build their experience and knowledge.
